About Us

Greenwood Elementary School is home-away-from-home to nearly  600 first through fifth grade students in Chester County’s Kennett Consolidated School District (KCSD). 

The elementary years are a time when students begin to develop feelings of competence and confidence. 

Our elementary staff play a vital role in the development process. They support our students as they learn skills that will shape their understanding of the world and themselves.

In addition to individualized instruction in the core areas of language arts, math, reading, science and social studies, students at Greenwood explore art, music, physical education and more! 

We are also proud to offer comprehensive support services including in english language development (ELD), gifted education, guidance, hearing therapy, mental health counseling, nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, special education and speech therapy!

The Future Ready PA Index is a collection of school progress measures related to school and student success. The Index includes a range of assessment, on-track, and readiness indicators, to more accurately report student learning, growth, and success in the classroom and beyond.

We Are Building The Future

The official groundbreaking for the new Greenwood Elementary School began in November 2024.  The new +/- 105,000 sf school will contain a one-story wing with a two-story classroom wing behind it.

The new Greenwood Elementary will contain state of the art classrooms and learning spaces with all the typical school amenities such as a multi-purpose room, stage, cafeteria, restrooms, and offices.

Capacity for the school will be for 660 students and 80 staff. The site will contain new bus loading and parking areas, increased parent pick-up and drop off circulation, new play areas and updated infrastructure.

The existing school remains in place while the new school is being constructed.  Once the new school is done, the existing school will be removed and new parking areas built.  

The new state-of-the-art facility will open its doors to students in August 2026.
