About
Greenwood Elementary School is home-away-from-home to 553 first through fifth grade students in Chester County’s Kennett Consolidated School District (KCSD).
The elementary years are a time when students begin to develop feelings of competence and confidence.
Our elementary staff play a vital role in the development process. They support our students as they learn skills that will shape their understanding of the world and themselves.
In addition to individualized instruction in the core areas of language arts, math, reading, science and social studies, students at Greenwood explore art, music, physical education and more!
We are also proud to offer comprehensive support services including in english language development (ELD), gifted education, guidance, hearing therapy, mental health counseling, nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, special education and speech therapy!
Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
Greenwood Elementary School implements Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS). Students are taught behavioral expectations within the classroom and school setting. The goal is to reinforce high expectations for all students.
The purpose of PBIS is to:
- Support positive behavior to maximize academic achievement for all students;
- Acknowledge appropriate behavior and behavioral expectations;
- Create a positive experience for ALL students; and
- Provide students with opportunities to learn from appropriate behaviors, rather than punitively assign consequences for negative behaviors.
Our expectations for ALL students are:
- Be responsible,
- Be respectful, and
- Be safe.
We are committed to providing an engaging and comprehensive education to support student success academically, behaviorally, and socially. We welcome our Greenwood students to experience education in a welcoming student-centered learning environment.
